***URGENT PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT***
Grindr, a popular app for gay men, now carries an urgent warning for users in Egypt. According to many sources, Egyptian authorities are posing as LGBT people on various social media sites to identify and arrest homosexual people. The app is urging users in the region to proceed with extreme caution, especially when identifying themselves or arranging meetings/hookups. While so far the focus seems to be on gay men, all LGBT people in the area should be cautious. Reports show that Egyptian police have carried out violent raids on private homes which lead to the arrests of several gay men. These men were then subjected to disturbing medical “exams.” Police also raided an LGBT party last year, violently arresting many and sentencing them to up to 12 years hard labour. While homosexuality is not illegal in Egypt, athorities are using sexual deviance, debauchery and insulting public morals as terms for the crackdown. Many claim this fresh attack on the LGBT community is lead by President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi who wishes for his country to be more Islamic.
For all of my LGBT friends here on tumblr, please be extremely careful as this situation develops. Remember to clear your search history, use private browsing if possible, and be extremely cautious with who you talk to online.

aight let me say this tho. when biphobic lesbians say things like ‘i don’t wanna be anywhere a guy has been” or the more cissexist/transmisogynistic “i don’t wanna be anywhere a dick has been”

you’re. kind of treating a bi woman like a used object. and totally qualifying her based on her past experiences. and deciding what does or does not impact her worth and “purity.”

and ur a piece of crap.

Hey! So, Coming Out Day is coming up soon (Oct. 11) and I just want to post a very stern reminder to NOT out anyone without their explicit permission.

Do NOT out anyone.

Got it?

Okay.

this is also a less important point, but still worth noting: DO NOT “come out” as an ally. don’t you dare.

Also - don’t feel pressured to come out. You don’t have an obligation to put yourself in an unsafe situation for any reason.

There was flyer in my colleges bathroom with and it said if your hetro this is a day to come out as an ally…smdfh

Yadriel & Maria appreciation post ✿◕‿◕✿

HE SAID MORE THAN HE DID ALL SEASON. I THOUGHT HE DIDN’T CARE. I THOUGHT HE WAS JUST BEING NICE AND LETTING HIS BABY MAMA SEE THE BABY THAT HE PROBABLY DIDN’T REALLY WANT AND BARELY LOOKED AFTER BUT I WAS FUCKING WRONG. I WAS WRONG ABOUT HIM. HE’S JUST QUIET. THE DUDE IS STOIC AS FUCK AND HE FUCKING LOVES MARIA AND HE LOVES THAT BABY AND IT’S FUCKING BEAUTIFUL THE WAY HE GUSHES AND TALKS TO HER LIKE MARIA ASKED HIM TO DO BECAUSE HE WANTS HER TO GROW UP SMART AND LOVED.

But also look at how cute the baby is dressed in each visit. Who did that? Daddy did. But that’s exactly the kind of visual cue that gets lost when he’s getting judged for his bald head, tattoos and stoic (thuggish?) demeanor.

this gifset still needs the visit where he’s crying his eyes out bc they think she’s being transferred and your heart just breaks into tiny pieces

Person: I’m a woman and I don’t need feminism
What she’s actually saying:
My life is perfectly okay and I don’t really care what other women go through
I think feminists are just whiny and can’t take jokes that perpetuate harmful stereotypes
I believe that people are just obsessed with political correctness
I am blind to the fact that there are still problems faced by women
I have forgotten that feminism gave women rights such as the right to vote
I have no idea that feminism is an egalitarian movement that fights for everyone’s rights regardless of sex, gender, sexuality, race, religion, nationality, and ethnicity but mostly focuses on women’s rights.
I am more concerned about semantics rather than human rights
I can’t distinguish between real feminists and shitty people who call themselves feminists
I still believe in the false notion that feminism is about hating men
I actually don’t understand what feminism is

But also:
I feel that the definition of a movement shifts with its most vocal and active members, and I am seeing such a growing number of dishearteningly cynical, misinformed, or downright underhanded (see: Sarkeesian-brand ‘feminism’) things done and said in the name of feminism that I no longer wish to be identified under that flag.
A movement founded on getting men to stop forcibly telling women what they need should not be, y’know, forcibly telling women what they need. You can support a thing without  having to identify with a movement, especially if you feel that the movement no longer represents your best interests or contains a number of people you consider to be taking it in an unpleasant direction. “I can’t distinguish between real feminists and shitty people who call themselves feminists” is an awful scapegoat - who are you to say who is and isn’t a real feminist? Anyone who acts under the flag of feminism is representing feminism, you can’t just hand-wave counter-productive behaviour with “oh no, they’re not a real feminist”. Especially when people like Sarkeesian are considered by many within the movement to be a real feminist - exploiting the oppression of women to make money, intentionally using misinformation (to prove something that’s real enough to be proved without misinformation, no less), and appropriating feminism to benefit yourself; if these are considered attributes of real feminism, I have no idea what grade of evil gets you branded as a ‘fake’.
This isn’t anti-feminism, there are far too many strains and submovements of feminism that decrying it is ignorant. It would be downright stupid to deny that our ingrained cultural biases don’t impact women negatively, and even men in some cases. But women should have a choice. Feminism was founded when men pushed women into a corner, skewed their reality and told them “you need us big strong men to take care of the clever things, the heavy things. You shouldn’t have to vote, you shouldn’t have to worry about learning, you’d be much happier being a housewife”. Feminism broke through to give women a choice, something they’d been constantly denied. Liberal Feminism, Radical Feminism, Conservative Feminism, Sex-positive Feminism: there are so many submovements within feminism, each with differing views. Yet somehow, the internet has begun to homogenise it in a way only the internet can, and now you often have to either identify under this catch-all ‘one true feminism’ flag that contains people you disagree with, or risk being ostracised, looked down upon, or being outright told that you ‘need’ to get under that flag.
This “with us or against us” ideology silences women, tells them what’s best for them, and robs them of choice. That sure sounds a lot like the very thing feminism set out to fight.

Hey, sixpenceee! Just wondering, have you seen this in the newspapers?

I have! I have a post on Black Eye Children here. Basically they are children with completely black eyes. People who encounter them sense dread. These children are supposed to represent danger in a harmless form. Anyway here’s the online version of the news article for those interested. And here’s another article on 16 Terrifying Encounters with Black Eyes Children.
